Medical disclaimer

Last updated 19 August 2026

If you are having an asthma attack, do not use this website.

Follow your asthma action plan. If you are struggling to breathe, your reliever is not helping, or you cannot speak in full sentences, call 999. Do not stop to record anything.

This is a record-keeping tool

AsthmaStats stores the readings you enter and shows them back to you as tables, charts and a printable summary. That is the whole of what it does.

It is not a medical device

This site is not a medical device and is not registered with the MHRA as one. It does not:

  • diagnose asthma or any other condition;
  • assess how well controlled your asthma is;
  • predict, detect or warn you about an asthma attack or any other event;
  • tell you when to take medication, change a dose, or contact anyone;
  • interpret your readings or give you any form of medical advice.

About the colours on your peak flow chart

The green, amber and red bands come from figures you entered: the personal best and zone percentages written on the asthma action plan your GP or asthma nurse gave you. The site simply shades your chart to match your own paperwork.

It does not work out your personal best, does not decide where your zones should sit, and does not check whether the figures you entered are right. If you have not been given an action plan, ask your GP or asthma nurse for one — that conversation is the useful thing, not this website.

A colour on this site means nothing more than "this reading is above or below the number you typed in". What to do about a reading is set out in your action plan, not here.

Your readings are only as good as your technique

Peak flow readings vary with how you blow, which meter you use, and the time of day. Home blood pressure monitors and glucose meters vary too. We record exactly what you type in. We cannot tell whether a reading is accurate, and neither an unusual number nor a normal-looking one means anything on its own.

Always speak to a healthcare professional

Nothing on this site replaces advice from your GP, asthma nurse, pharmacist or any other healthcare professional. Never delay seeking medical help, or ignore advice you have been given, because of something you saw here.

The summary you can print is intended to give a clinician better information to work from. It is a record of what you entered, not an assessment, and any interpretation of it is entirely theirs.
